3 Common Myths About The Philips SpeechLive Cloud
At times, people are still sceptical about the cloud and how it works, and cloud applications are considered an uncertainty factor. We thought we’d clear up three common myths about the cloud dictation solution, Philips SpeechLive.
Myth 1: “Everything is stored at all times”
Philips SpeechLive stores personal data for login and billing purposes and handles audio recordings, voice files and text documents in its core functionality. Depending on individual preferences or company regulations, recordings can be deleted at any time or downloaded automatically or manually after a certain period of time.
Reality: It is always the user who decides what should be stored and what should not.
Myth 2: “Data is transferred to different regions”
We work with several data centers across the globe to store data as locally as possible and satisfy different legislations. Data is clearly separated based on customers’ locations. In the United States, Canada and Australia data is stored locally on Microsoft Azure servers. In Europe, customer data is stored within the EU on the high security server “earthDATAsafe” of Kapsch BusinessCom.
Reality: In line with the GDPR, customer data is stored in the country where the customer is located.
Myth 3: “Leaks happen during data transmission”
For data transmission to and from Philips SpeechLive, a three-stage encryption mechanism is in place. A file is encrypted during recording on a professional recorder, your smartphone or online, while being sent to the cloud, and when stored on the cloud server.
Reality: We are aware that no data transmission is 100% secure. However, knowing the sensitivity of the data our customers deal with, we have always aimed for the highest security standards from the day we launched Philips SpeechLive.
